John D. Cassels, Esq.
John D. Cassels, Jr., of counsel, was born in Richmond, Virginia but has resided in Okeechobee, Florida since 1968. He has practiced law in Okeechobee and the surrounding area since 1979. His practice has centered on real estate related matters including residential and commercial real estate transactions, preparing contracts, examining title, issuing title insurance, and conducting closings. He has represented numerous real estate developers as well as clients involved in real estate related issues such as boundary disputes, property access rights, encroachments, quieting title, and foreclosures.
John attended Florida State University, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in 1975, and Cumberland School of Law, where he obtained Juris Doctorate in 1978.
He has served on the State Professional Ethics Committee, the 19th Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee, the 19th Judicial Circuit Nominating Commission, and as President of the Okeechobee County Bar Association. He was also honored to serve as one of the two Okeechobee County Attorneys for 29 years until December of 2019.
